The number one rule in photographing children: get on their level! Try photographing your child while on your hands and knees, kneeling, or while laying on your stomach. Not only will this provide a more flattering view of your child, but also helps to engage with them during your "photo shoot."

If your camera has a "continuous shooting" mode, you might give this a try when photographing kids on the move. It's often the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th photo in a series that is best, and can eliminate the "perfect picture if only they hadn't blinked" phenomenon.
